The modern bathroom has evolved from being a plain, purely practical space to an inviting and inspiring room with design features that beautifully match the rest of the home. The Ross North Homes designers go to great lengths to ensure that the bathrooms in our homes are not only practical but feature a variety of stylish elements that transform them into luxurious spa-like sanctuaries. Here are some of our favourite bathroom trends that can be found in Ross North Display Homes.
Wood look tiles
Glossy tiles, marble finishes and ceramics generally give bathrooms a cold look and feel. In the Jardine we have added warmth and personality back into the bathroom by using wood look tiles in sections of the floor and walls. Wood look has the unique look and appeal of hardwood floors, but is much more affordable and durable, and easier to maintain. In the Jardine, the strategically placed wood look tiles create a subtle, but welcome contrast between the smooth bathtub and stone-coloured tiles and walls. In addition, the location of the strip of wood look tiles in the bathroom draws attention to the beautiful freestanding bath which is the centrepiece of the room.
Contrasting tile combinations
Contrasting elements add a layer of intrigue and visual interest to a design. Contrast can be achieved by using different colours, textures, patterns or shapes together. This is beautifully illustrated in the bathrooms of the Katherine and the Merivale. The Katherine’s ensuite features a variety of tile combinations that interact to create a harmonious, contemporary look. The stone look floor tiles and neutral, full height wall tiling in an intricate pattern, is perfectly juxtaposed and adds a sense of spa-like appeal to the bathroom. The Katherine’s second bathroom is tiled with glossy, white wall tiles that meet a grey and white chevron pattern on the floor. This combination creates a sense of elegance and sophistication, with a touch of playfulness.
Another perfect example of stylish contrasting tile combinations can be seen in the Merivale’s ensuite, where our interior designers have opted to install stone look floor tiles and modern, marble wall tiles next to a smooth and white freestanding tub. This unique blend of tile textures not only adds to the room’s elegance, but beautifully showcases its freestanding bath tub. In the other bathroom the element of contrast is even more evident. White, grey, and black tiles all stylishly meet to give it a modern appeal.
Spa like qualities
‘His’ and ‘Hers’ bathroom features are the ultimate in luxury and convenience. The Beaufort’s spacious ensuite is as comfortable and stylish as any day spa. Its ‘His’ and ‘Hers’ vanity basins, double showers and walk in robes which can be accessed from the master bedroom are welcome additions that transform the bathroom into a space that is incredibly convenient to use, but also adds a sense of extravagance that sets it apart from other bathroom designs. Additionally, the bathroom’s freestanding bath, large mirrors and fittings such as rectangular rain showers and chrome towel rails, turn this ensuite into an extraordinary oasis which can be enjoyed at any time, and in the privacy and convenience of the home.
