5 Tips for Refreshing Your Home Ready for 2022

New Year, New Fresh Vibes Required!

When it comes to giving your home a fresh new vibe for 2022, you don’t need to reinvent the wheel or the blow your budget (ruining one of your New Year’s resolutions)! Use any of the below tips to simply and cost effectively give your interior a great new feel to match your great new 2022 attitude! Plus, it’s the perfect time to do it; there are sales on in every home décor shop, the weather is perfect for painting, and you have the time [assuming you are on holidays, that is!] to think and plan out what you want to tackle, and in which order of priority!

Tip 1 – Add Some Indoor Plants

You can never go wrong with a new plant baby to start the new year with a pop of green in an otherwise dark corner or boring shelf. If you’re nervous about keeping them alive, start small if you must, but most indoor plant stores have super helpful staff that will advise you on the best plant for the spot/s you have in mind and give you a great run down on how to care for them, too. Easy!

Tip 2 – Change Your Sheets/Quilt/Pillow

The best way to shake off 2021? Change your sheets! Better yet, switch up your quilt cover and even better still… buy new pillows! You’ll feel like a whole new person – and you can change the feel of your bedroom both on an aesthetic level and on a ‘while you are in bed’ level! Hit the shops and pick up some great memory foam pillows and make sure you start the year getting the best sleep you can in your beautifully fresh bed linen.

Tip 3 – Fresh Artwork

If you have a photo wall it can be as easy as finding some new photos to swap in, but if not, you can find plenty of great, affordable canvas art pieces in the after Christmas/New Year sales in order to give one or more of the rooms in your house a fresh new feel. And don’t throw out the old art, keep them safe in the garage or shed so whenever you are feeling like a bit of change, bring them back out and swap them all around /take some down – it becomes a very cost-effective way to change the style and feel of your home whenever the mood strikes, new year or not!

Tip 4 – Painting

You only need to tackle one wall, or one room even, but giving something in your home a fresh coat of paint is a sure-fire way to get you feeling invigorated for the new year ahead. It could be that your walk-in robe is scuffed and looking grubby – so why not do a little clothing clean out first and before you put everything back, give the walls a fresh coat of white paint to complete a comprehensive wardrobe detox!

Tip 5 – Cushions

The power of a few new throw cushions/pillows cannot be overestimated! Old couch that you can’t afford to replace just yet? Cushions. Quilt cover that you love, but feel like a change? Cushions. Outdoor setting that is looking a little worse for wear from being out in the elements all year? Cushions! They’re also the perfect way to bring in pops of colour that might otherwise be a little bold for your liking, and are great for creating a mood using texture, size, style [and colour] to freshen a timeless piece of furniture.

If you’re feeling inspired to make some [or all of these changes] at your place this year, we suggest you head out to see some of our award-winning display homes to get some more great ideas in the flesh!
